The
Balancing Act opened for business in 1986 when Terry Thomas and
Gerry Bartel saw the need for a crank balancing service on the
Niagara Peninsula. The first machine the duo purchased was a Hines
crank balancer, hence the company name. Between the two
they had almost thirty years of experience in the automotive machining
field and both felt it was time for a quality machine shop on the
peninsula.
The
pair listened to the needs of their customers and early on made
the decision to re-invest the profits back into the company in
the
form of new
machinery. This is a tradition that continues to this day and the
customer benefits by this. The Balancing Act takes pride
in the fact that it is probably the best equipped automotive machine
shop this side of
Toronto.
The
shop has traditionally focused on the high performance and racing
segment of the market and has every machine required to service
it. In 2004 the company purchased a MD Mustang chassis dynomometer.
The intent was to complement the engine building portion of the
business. There is no point making serious power and not being
able to refine it in the vehicle. The chassis dyno allows the full
potential of the powerplant to be realized.
